Helen Rose May Obituary
May, Helen Rose Born Dec. 20, 1919 in Dallas, TX to Donald C. and Della Davis May. She attended grade school, North Dallas H. S. and SMU. In 1936 she was selected to represent North Dallas H.S. as a Texanita for the Texas Centennial, also at that time she was selected to appear in a Gene Autry movie made at the Centennial. One of the most exciting events of her teenage years was being a guest of Jack L. Warner, President of Warner Bros. Studios, and his wife, Anne at their home, while in Los Angeles for a SMU-UCLA football game. She is a past president of Chi Omega Alumni, Shear Luck Garden Club, Trippens Dance Club and The Vagabonds Club. One of her joys was being creator and designer of the Christmas decorations for the Chi Omega Caravan during the early 50's, proceeds of which helped to build their sorority house and to establish a scholarship at SMU. She is survived by her son, Donnie Jack Stroud; daughter, Helen Sue Slusser; grandsons, Brad Stroud, Matthew Stroud; step-granddaugh-ter, Happy Peterson Ball; great grandchildren, Maddon Stroud, Savannah Stroud, Sarah Stroud, Jack Stroud, Robbie Peterson and Tanner Peterson.
