Foster, Marguerite Shirley (95), passed away peacefully on April 19, 2014 after a full and vibrant life that touched so many family and friends. Marguerite was born on September 8, 1918, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Shirley Moore and Vassal Cook. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, L.G. Foster, Jr.; sons, Euodias (Otis) Logan, Jr. and Bernard S. Logan. Marguerite received Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age. She was a devoted member of the St. John's Lutheran Church (ELCA) for many years. Marguerite received her Bachelor's Degree from Bishop College and earned her Masters Degree from North Texas State University. She also held a certification in counseling from Southern Methodist University. Marguerite dedicated over 35 years in the education field. Her experience ranged from a classroom teacher and to an elementary school principal, in which she retired. Her commitment to the community was evidenced by service in several civic and non-profit organizations. Marguerite devoted time to the YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, African-American Museum, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas Public Library. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, daughter, Beverly Jo McKiver (Willard); son, Roderic Foster; one sister, Edith Williams and a host of grand-children, great grand-children, nieces, nephews, family, and many long-time friends. A message from Marguerite: "Departing from this world is a time of celebration. Instead of mourning my departure, move forward with life here on earth and spread my love on and on." In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: The African-American Museum, 2536 Grand Ave., Dallas, TX 75210 and to St John's Lutheran Church, 2939 Sunnyvale, Dallas, TX 75216. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Grace Presbyterian Village and Crestview Court. There will be a viewing at Restland Funeral Home, the Abbey Chapel, Wednesday, April 23rd from 6-8pm, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. At the request of our mother, there will be no funeral service. Her wish was to be buried with her devoted husband L.G.
