Terry, Kittie Helen Kittie Helen Terry passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from natural causes at the age of 96. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 21, 1917, the youngest of three children born to Sidney Carroll Hubener and Kittie McCall Hubener. Helen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended business school before working for the San Antonio Transit System. In 1939, she married Reed James Terry with whom she shared a loving relationship for 56 years. In January 1961, Helen and Reed moved to Dallas, Texas as part of his work for Western Electric Company. They settled in the Lake Highlands area where they raised two boys. Lifelong Baptists, both Reed and Helen were soon active in Wilshire Baptist Church where they developed close friendships, served in various ways with teaching, class office positions, and on committees. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt. She was an excellent homemaker, cook, host and neighbor whose gentle nature and gracious hospitality, was offered to all. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Aleta McCall Hubener; brother, Sidney Carroll Hubener; brother-in-law Martin Terry, and husband, Reed James Terry, Sr. She is survived by her son, Reed James Terry, Jr. and his wife Becky; son, Steven Kent Terry and his wife, LuElla Hales Terry, who all reside in Dallas Texas, as well as her grandchildren, Kelly Terry Hoskovec and husband, Nickolas Hoskovec of San Jose, California; and Lee McCall Terry and wife, Emilee Hansen Terry, of Queens, New York, and her new great grandson, Benjamin Lee Hoskovec. Helen also had an extended family which included her sister-in-law, Uvalda Terry and nephews, Martin and Timothy Terry of San Antonio and nephew, Ray Hubener of New York City, niece, Kathy Hubener Breaux of New Orleans, Louisiana, and niece, Ann Hubener of Duncanville, Texas; and several grand nieces and nephews. The family gratefully acknowledges the care and comfort provided by Sunrise Senior Living and Vitas Hospice care during the last five years, especially the care provide by Janice, Cindy, Dawn and Rachel. A memorial service will be held at Wilshire Baptist Church at 11 :00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2014 followed by a reception in the church parlor. The Reverend Mark Wingfield will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the Wilshire Baptist Church designated for the Pathways to Ministry Fund, 4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214.
