Bates, Latrelle Our family celebrates the life of a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Born on February 27, 1928, in Madill, Oklahoma. Went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014. Graduated from Madill High School in 1946. Moved to Dallas where she raised a family and worked for Western Electric and Dallas ISD. A cancer survivor of 36 years and volunteer at the Baylor Cancermount Program for more than 2 decades. Member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Dallas since 1956. Survived by her son, Brian, and his wife, Gina, and their children: Zachary and Katelyn; son, Mitchel, and his wife, Theresa, and their children: Jacob, Samuel, and Hannah; her sisters, June Cade, Mona Spears, and Suellen Marlatt; her brothers, Mervyn Smiley, Blake Smiley, Pat Smiley, and Mike Smiley. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harry Eugene Bates; her parents, Oscar Raymond Smiley and Mamie Blakely Smiley; her sisters, Estelle Cummings, Joyce Byers, Joann Smiley, and Eloise Brown, her brothers, James Smiley and Bill Smiley. Family Visitation to be held at Sparkman / Crane Funeral Home, on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Funeral Service to be held at Lakeside Baptist Church, 9150 Garland Road, Dallas, on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Graveside Services at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas at 2:15 pm.
