Wilhite, Jr., Julius Benton J.B. Julius Benton "J.B." Wilhite, Jr., 89, of Plano, Texas passed quietly on May 11, 2014, to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born to the late Julius Benton Wilhite, Sr. and Gladys B. Wilhite on July 3, 1924, in Transylvania, Louisiana. J.B. graduated from Bossier City High School in 1942 and received a B.A. in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University in 1948, where he met his wife and soul mate, Miriam, whom he married on June 5, 1949. J.B. served his country in World War II, serving in the 113th Naval Construction Battalion (the "Seabees") and returned to serve yet again in Korea. His working career was with Sears, where for over thirty years he managed some of its largest and most profitable stores until he retired in 1981. J.B. and Miriam lived together in several places before relocating to Plano, where they had made their home for the past thirty-three years. J.B. was also an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, enjoying both Bible Study and the fellowship of his many dear friends. J.B. loved to travel with his wife, Miriam, and took more than twenty-five cruises all over the world with her. A devoted husband, mentor and family patriarch, J.B. was known by those who loved him as a hard-working, serious-minded gentleman with a soft and caring touch. In his final days, J.B. was looking forward to reuniting with his lovely wife of sixty-five years, Miriam Adams Wilhite. Joining her on Mother's Day, J.B. was preceded by only twenty-two days with her passing. He is survived by his two children: Suzanne Horn of Frisco, Texas and her husband, Michael Horn, plus Randall Wilhite of Houston, Texas, and his wife Alison Wilhite. J.B. is survived by his brother, Jackie Wilhite and his wife, Pat. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michele Horn, Natalie Newton and her husband Robert Newton, Amber Horn, Kimberly Orr and her husband, Ryan Orr and Adam Wilhite and his wife Elizabeth Wilhite, Kathryn Gilmartin and Suzannah Gilmartin, plus three great grandchildren: Haley Newton, Nicholas Newton and Brennan Orr. The family is holding a small graveside service to honor J.B. at Restland Funeral Home, where he will be buried next to his wife, Miriam.
