Danna, Peter A. Peter "Pete" A. Danna, 76, of Garland, Texas passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2014 at Baylor Garland Hospital. Visitation to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland, Rd., Dallas, Texas with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. , Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd, Dallas, Texas. Born in Shreveport, La. on August 29, 1937 to Emile and Rosalie Danna, Pete and his wife of 50 years, Angie P. Danna, moved to Garland after they were married in 1964. Pete graduated from Jesuit High School in Shreveport in 1955, received his B.S. degree in Geophysical Engineering from St. Louis University, Mo. in 1959 and then on to earn a M.S. degree in Mathematics from Northwestern State University in La. in 1963. While in college he served as president of the Society of Geophysicists and was a member of both the Phi Mu Epsilon and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. Pete briefly worked in oilfield services after graduation then became a computer programmer for over 25 years and on to teach college math at the Art Institute of Dallas for 20 years. Pete loved serving Our Lord and was very active in various ministry capacities at St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was also a member on a prayer team at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by his daughter, Karen D Melvin and her husband, John Melvin, Jr. of Bryan, Texas; son Steven P. Danna and his wife, Megin D Danna of Rockwall, Texas ; five beautiful grandchildren, John N Melvin III, Jason P Melvin, Sadie E Danna, Jacob R Danna and Noah L Danna; his sister, Camille Millen and her husband Roy Millen of Shreveport, La. and nephews Michael Millen and his wife Maria Millen, Monty Millen and his wife, Stacy Millen, Eric Millen and his wife, Linda Millen, niece, Danna A Millen and several great- nieces and nephew. He was preceded by his parents and several aunt and uncles. Pallbearers will be Michael Millen, Monty Millen, John Melvin, Jr., John McQuistion, Jim Walker and Sean Scotch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul Society or a .
