Dyer Jr., Charles Rutledge A life lived fully, Charlie Dyer passed away on July 12, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Born in Greenville, TX on September 11, 1930. Graduated from East Texas State Teachers College, Commerce, TX. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Dyer, Sr. and Annie Ruby Robison Dyer, sisters Joyce Dyer Price, Margaret Dyer Frazier and Blanche Thompson Price, and beloved niece Camille Thompson. Charlie worked his entire career for the Dallas Independent School District as a teacher, coach, principal and administrator. He retired in 1989 as an area director in the Athletic Department. He touched many lives through teaching swimming, organizing and conducting athletic events, running the local Coach of the Year football clinics and managing the program sales for the Dallas Cowboys for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and telling tall tales around the campfire. His greatest joys were his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Roberts Dyer; daughter, Debbie Dyer Neeley and husband, James Neeley; son, David Brian Dyer and wife, Mary Lorton Dyer; grandchildren, Zachary Neeley and wife, Jessie Neeley, David "Doak" Dyer, Dorie Dyer and Christopher Dyer; great-granddaughter, Emmeline Neeley; nephews, Edwin Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Michael Price, Edwin "Chip" Frazier; nieces, Breton Frazier, Linda Anderson, Sudie Thompson and Mary Price Sharp. The family wishes to thank the staff of Baylor Medical Center and especially Dr. Stuart Owen and Patty. Visitation at Restland Funeral Home 6-8 PM Wed. July 16. Service at 2:30 PM Thurs. July 17 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Charlie's honor be made to any college scholarship fund.
