Earnest Mallory Polk Obituary
Polk, Mr. Earnest Mallory Was born June 8, 1931 to Ms. Clara Polk in Calvert, TX. Mr. Polk graduated from Ferris High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Paul Quinn College in 1952. He received his Master's degree from Texas Southern University in 1955. In 1955 he united in Holy Matrimony to Ella Louise Daniels, to this union three children were born, Toni Polk Culpepper, Pamela Polk and Mallori Polk. Mr. Polk enlisted in the US Army and received honorable discharge in 1949. Following his discharge, Mr. Polk enlisted in the US Navy on July 20, 1949 in San Francisco, CA. His highest rank was Seaman Apprentice on the USS Titania in the US Navy until July 19, 1950 when he was honorably discharged. As a pillar in the Dallas-Fort Worth community, he was well known from his work in and out of the church. He began his career in the education system in Garland ISD before he moved to Dallas ISD, where he worked as a teacher, coach and in the Adult Basic Education program among other roles. Mr. Polk worked as administrator before retiring. Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his mother Clara Polk Robinson (Jack); sister, Willie Juanita Woods; wife, Ella Louise Daniels Polk and grandson, Christopher Culpepper. He is survived by his daughters, Toni Culpepper (Joseph), Pamela Polk, Mallori Polk, Clarrise Northern; son Lloyd Vestal (Paulina); nephew, David Lee Woods; granddaughter, Lauren Culpepper and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from noon to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
