Blankenship, Joyce Louise Joyce Louise Blankenship, 82, passed away peacefully Aug. 12, 2014 after a long series of illnesses. She was ready to be reunited with her beloved husband of 55 years, Lesley Blankenship, and her dear mother, Peachye Annabelle Swift, and to be in the presence of the Lord. Joyce was born Sept. 18, 1931 in Dallas, and lived most of her life in Oak Cliff including nearly 50 years as an active member of First Baptist Oak Cliff and more recently, Hampton Road Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, and was beloved "MeeMaw" to her 6 grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and hostess, and a faithful friend. She is survived by her daughter Lou Anne Smith & husband, David of Dallas; daughter, Melinda Nix & husband, Robert of Midlothian, TX; grandchildren, Evan Smith, Emory Smith, Jessica Nix, Cody Nix, Elliott Smith & Tanner Nix. Funeral Service is 2:00 PM, Monday Aug. 25 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville. Burial will follow at Laurel Land. Please note: The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thurs. August 14 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10005.
