Thomas, Martha Cortez Stribling Jobe Age 89, of Dallas since 2006, passed away on Wednesday Evening, March 4, 2009 at 4:59pm at Central Methodist Hospital, Dallas, TX. She was born in Sulphur Springs, TX to the late Mark Stribling, Sr. and Lonie Portwood Stribling. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Gloria (Marion) Cohen, Dallas, TX. Dr. Marcella Blake JD, PhD Honolula, Hawaii Bobbie Nell (John) Gay, daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Thomas, Sulphur Springs, TX. Son and daughter-in-law Billy J. (Francis) Thomas, Greenville, TX. Grandchildren: Marion C. (Danita) Cohen, Nyla Cohen, Christopher Cohen, Roderick (Sonja) Cohen, Kalon (Tonda) Cohen Maura Garbarino, John C. Stribling, Jr. Dallas, TX Wendell (Gwen) Stribling Salvage, Minnesota Ms. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Scott, Sr. son Everett Scott Jr. one sister, Mattie R. Walker, two brothers, Nathaniel and Winston Stribling. She attended Elementary and High School in Sulphur Springs, TX and graduated as class Valendictorian from Douglas High School. Sulphur Springs, TX. Furthering her education, She graduated from Jarvis Christian College, Hawkins, TX; receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education; A graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois and the Longview Business College, Longview, TX. Ms. Thomas was a member of Morning Chapel Baptist Church and later the St. Luke Baptist Church Sulphur Springs, TX. Her career was spent in Education and the Medical Field where she retired from nursing for over 51 years, working in the hospitals and during private duty beginning in Hawkins, Texas as a nurse for the late Dr. Martin L. Edwards; while living in East Texas, she nursed at the Good Shephard Hospital, Longview, Texas for many years and was a private duty nurse in the surrounding areas of East Texas; worked as a private duty nurse in Dallas, Plano, Garland, Irving areas and in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. (Baylor, St. Paul, Parkland, Presbyterian, Doctor's Hospital and Central Methodist) Also worked as a Private Duty Nurse for many families in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex where she was loved by all of the patients and their family members. Because of her untiring commitment and dedication to her patients, her nursing skills were recognized as being one of the best Nurses in the State of Texas.
