Ogden, Matthew, PFC Private First Class (PFC) Matthew Ogden, 33, was born Oct. 16, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He joined the United States Army in October 2007 and after completing his training at Fort Benning, GA., was stationed at Fort Drum, N.Y. PFC Ogden was deployed on December 15, 2008 to Afghanistan. He was a rifleman with 2-87th, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. Matthew was killed in the line of duty in Nerkh, Afghanistan on Monday, June 1, 2009. Matthew Ogden was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Weapons Qualification Badge (Expert Rifle-man) and posthumously the NATO Medal, Army Good Conduct Med-al, Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart. PFC Ogden will be arriving with his brother and special escort, US Marine Lance Corporal (LCPL) Nicholas Aikman, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine, HQ Battery. Matthew is survived by his mother, Charlotte, of Caddo Mills, Texas and his father, Michael, of Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009, 1:00PM at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Dallas-Ft Worth National Cemetery.
