Laura Katherine Stevens Smith, 35, died Thursday, July 23, at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. Laura was born July 14, 1974, in Dallas. She was a loving wife, daughter and sister, as well as a devoted mother to her animals. Laura graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas in 1992 and was a veterinary technician. Laura will be remembered for her gentleness, kindness and her lifelong love and passion for animals. She had a unique and unwavering drive to make the world a better place for them. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Smith of Driftwood; her parents, Barbara Stevens of Heath, and Tony L. Stevens of Dallas; her sisters Diana Kerr of Heath and Sarah Stevens of Dallas; and nieces Devon and Kendall Kerr of Heath. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 28, at 10 a.m. at Highland Park Presbyterian Church on University Boulevard in Dallas. A burial service will be held Wednesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Austin Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Laura’s name to Emancipet (, P.O.
