Edwin Emmons Obituary
Emmons, Edwin Paul Ed Emmons, age 85, of Garland, was born Dec 10, 1924 in Dallas, Tx. He lived in Arp and Tyler in his younger years before living in Dallas/Garland, and passed away July 1, 2010. Ed serviced in WWII in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He then attended TJC and UNT, graduating with a degree in accounting, and spent 40 years with companies as diverse as Tyler Pipe & Foundry and Frito-Lay, Inc. He was a civic leader in his younger years, as the Boy Scout Master at First Baptist Church of Tyler and President of the Tyler Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a Mason for over 60 years, being initiated at St. John's 53 Lodge in Tyler. He was also a member of Hella Shrine. He is survived by his son, Chuck/ Clif Emmons of Garland, his dau-ghter, Susanne Detwiler of Truckee, Calif., brothers Gerald Emmons and John of Tyler, sisters Polly Shiflett and Barbara Hubbard of Tyler and 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Loraine Emmons. Services will be held Tuesday, July 6th, at 12:30pm in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Visitation is in the chapel from 10:30 to 12:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boy Scouts of America, Dallas, Tx.
