Amanda Mallory Obituary
Amanda Mallory of Dallas, TX, died unexpectedly in her sleep August 6, 2010. She was born in Marshall, TX on May 13, 1955 to Betty Jean Shewmake Mallory and Lonnie Zack Mallory. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her beloved daughter Katherine Michelle Andereck of Dallas, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Rob Newcomer of Ada, OK and Melissa and Bill Bonnette of Franklin, VT, two nephews and three nieces and their spouses: Daniel and Sara Murphy of Houston, TX, Philip Newcomer of Ada Oklahoma, Autumn and Andy Walker of Perkinston, MS, Laura and Chad Gaither of Dallas TX and Megan and Charley Fallon of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind her fiance, Curt Saxton of Dallas. Amanda graduated from University of Texas and worked for Peat Marwick Mitchell in Dallas, before transferring to the New Orleans office where she attained the position of manager. Amanda returned to Dallas where she became the controller of Rosewood Resources, and concluded her corporate career as Chief Financial Officer of Rosewood Corporation. Amanda served as a Board Member for the March of Dimes and the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas. For several years, Amanda and her daughter Kate were among the largest money raisers in the state of Texas for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica. She formed Brownie Scout troop #862 and remained involved as many girls in this troop went on to earn the Silver and Gold Awards. Amanda loved music, cooking and reading, but most of all her daughter Kate. She had recently returned from proudly watching Kate graduate from a vocational program in Office Skills from the University of Eastern New Mexico in Roswell. A Memorial Service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home (7405 West Northwest Highway) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28th, with a reception following. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Amanda's memory be made to the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, 1702 North Collins Boulevard, Richardson, TX 75080. www.sparkman-hillcrest.com
