Gerhart, SGT David R. SGT David R. Gerhart (27), of Eagle River, AK, died on September 5, 2010. He was born on October 10, 1982 in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He attended schools and graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas in 2001. David joined the military in 2005 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, AK. David was deployed to Iraq in 2006-07 for 15 months and to Afghanistan in 2009-10 for 13 months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. David is survived by his wife of 7 years, Charlesa (Charlie) Gerhart, of Eagle River and four children, Sky (10), Adam (8), Star (6) and Storm (3). David also leaves behind his parents, Michael and Gari Butler of Houston; sister Angela Fitzgerald of Ft Huachuca, AZ; brother Jonathan Butler of Commerce; mother in-law Honey Heard of Dallas; maternal grandmother Judith Dillon of Dallas and paternal grandparents Dillard and Linda Coates of Dallas as well as a host of friends and family. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to "The SuperDave Memorial Fund" at Wells Fargo Bank.
