Memories and Condolences
for Duaine Appleton

Not sure what to say?

Dear Jean, Dee & Julie-

I'm so sad to hear about Duaine's death & very much wish I could have attended his memorial service.

He was not only wise, but the kindest, most patient boss I ever had. When I broke hundreds of Champagne glasses, got my finger caught in his vacuum cleaner, went to a boozy lunch with Dee and forgot to come back to work...he gave a young girl another chance.

I learned so much about running a business from DJA & I'll always regret that I didn't have a chance to thank him & say goodbye properly. I hope he knew how much I admired, respected & loved him.

Whenever I think of Duaine I'll remember most his engaging curiosity-such joie de vivre! I'll really miss stopping by the donut shop, seeing his face light up and hearing him say, "What's up, Clara Bell?"

Thinking of you all with deepest sympathy-

I met Duaine in 1972 when he hired me to install air conditioning in his new store, Taylor Rental. From that day to now he has been a friend, mentor, business adviser and a "Go To Guy". I have read each and every entry in the guest book...all true, all Duaine.
Godspeed to you my friend.
I can't really express in words how I will miss him.
Gods Blessing to Jean, Dee & Julie and all the family.

I was lucky enough to know Duaine in the late 70's and early 80's and I enjoyed coming into the store and catching up on what was going on with him and the family when ever I was in town. No question Mr Appleton was one of a kind.

I'll never forget the words Duaine spoke to me right after Julie and my father were married. We hugged as he said "Welcome to the family." Even as an 11 year old, I knew how powerful those words were. He made me feel welcome with that simple sentence. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

Bill,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Even though I have not met him in person, I have heard he was such a nice man ever. I will pray for his soul and remember him for what he did to protect my home country after Korean War.

I just got the phone call from my family of Duaine's passing. I am on the road and cannot make it back for the funeral but I want his family to know how much he meant to me!
Duaine I hope you know you were always Special to me and you were always there for me.
There are not enough words to share my sadness. Duaine was a dear friend who was always there to share stories and to try an out do each other on the crazy antics.
In the past couple years we did not see each other as I moved to Iowa Park and yet I thought of him often.
Always with a Smile and a Quick Comeback.
You will be missed and as always you are still telling me what to do.
No Flowers but a donation to the Methodist Church in Scroggins.
Dear Friend I will take your advice and do just that.........In my thoughts and prayers. Jimmy Arnold

Although I did not see him often, I always enjoyed visiting with my cousin, Duaine and his lovely wife, Jean. I will miss those times we were able to talk about all our relatives, and I will miss that big smile on his face and in his voice. My deepest sympathy goes to Jean, Dee, Julie and the grandchildren.

We had the privilege of knowing you for only a relatively short time. In the moments we shared while exercising, we came to know a truly genuine, caring man for whom we have a very special place in our hearts. Although you have moved on, you have left your mark in all of us. You will forever be remembered. God speed to you my friend. May the Lord’s blessings be with you and your family.

To my best friend in the whole world and her family-
Dear Julie -
I am so sorry - I know how you are feeling. I wish I could say that it gets better, but honestly, after only eight months, I can't. Life has now changed forever and we just have to adapt to it. I am here for you and your mom in any way.
I love you,
Jamie
