Jack, James E. James (Jim) Edward Jack passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 4, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Jim was born on June 16, 1941, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the oldest child of the late Cecil and Louise Jack. Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Accounting, in June, 1963, Jim married Audrey Mae Wendel Jack on June 29, 1963 at Sacred Heart Bascillica, Notre Dame, IN. On July 8, 1963, Jim joined Associates First Capital Corporation of in South Bend, IN where he worked for over 33 years rising to Director, Senior Executive Vice President (EVP), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In 1980, Jim earned an MBA from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business, at SMU. From 1996 to 1999, Jim was a Consultant and managed the Financial Services Consulting Practice for Towers, Perrin in Dallas. Jim loved the role of being a Chief Financial Officer and returned to the corporate arena in 1999 when he became EVP/ CFO for Coachmen Industries, Inc., Elkhart, IN, and then as EVP/CFO for Medallion Financial Corp., New York, NY from 2001-2003. As recognition for his dedication to the values of education and his strong faith, Jim received the degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa in 2002 from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN. In early 2004, Jim established J.E. Jack & Partners, LLC, a firm engaged in providing financial advisory and consulting to small and mid-size companies. Jim's career with the Associates brought him and his family to Dallas in 1976 where they have lived for the past 35 years. Jim is survived by his wife Audrey Jack, his daughter Christine Jack, his son-in-law Philip Blum, and one brother Jerry Jack. Jim has a large extended family and was very close and supportive to his many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. As Jim built his career in the financial services profession, he never forgot his passion for Catholic education and assisting the less fortunate. Among his many philanthropic commitments: Jim is a member of the Advisory Council for Graduate Studies and Research, University of Notre Dame; he served on the Board of Trustees of St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN for 18 years; he is Consultor, and past Chairman and Trustee, of Jesuit College Preparatory School Foundation, Dallas; and he worked closely with Ursuline Academy in Dallas to help establish their education foundation. Jim is also known for generously supporting catholic schools. In addition, Jim served as a member of the Board of Trustees, St. Paul Medical Center Foundation, Dallas,; was a member of the Advisory Council and Commencement Speaker for the College of Business, UTA; and served as a Member, Associate Board, Edwin L. Cox School of Business, SMU. The family greatly appreciates all of the thoughts and many prayers during the past two weeks from Jim's vast network of friends and family. The family wishes to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Heart Hospital Baylor Plano. The family will receive friends, following a Vigil service, Thursday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m., Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, July 8th, 2011 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd, Dallas. Rev. Phillip Postell, S.J. celebrant. Following the Mass, please join the family for a reception in the library, Jesuit College Preparatory School. If desired, memorials may be made in Jim's name to any of the following: Citizens Development Center, 8800 Ambassador Row, Dallas, 75247; Jesuit College Preparatory School, 12345 Inwood Rd. Dallas, 75244; University of Notre Dame, 1100 Grace Hall, Notre Dame, IN, 46556-5612, Attn. Carol Hennion. Final internment will be in Mishawaka, IN, where a memorial service is planned for a later date.
