Mark Garretson Obituary
Garretson, Mark Douglas Mark Douglas Garretson, beloved son, brother, father, passed from this life July 29, in McKinney Healthcare Center, McKinney, TX, after a long struggle with frontal lobal dementia. He was born December 18, 1958, on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, to Lt.j.g. Arthur Samuel and Sara Elizabeth Curtis Garretson. He moved with his Navy family to stations in New Mexico, Japan, Hawaii and California. He came to Texas from California in 1986, and married Nancy Gail Massengale. They have two children, Bryan Scott and Brittany Leann. He graduated from Cooke County College, Gainesville, TX, with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, and an Associate of Science degree, and worked for the Sheriff of Denton County until his illness forced his retirement. He is survived by his father, Sam Garretson and wife Leslie, of Marietta, Georgia, his mother, Sara Montgomery and husband Weldon, of Plano, Texas, brother, Steve Garretson and wife Maryam and son Nicholas, of University Park, Texas, son Bryan, of Lima, Ohio, and daughter, Brittany, of Gainesville, Texas. Mark's wishes were for his brain to go to Dr. Kyle Womack, of UT Southwestern Medical School, who studied Mark' condition for several years; his body will go to the school for medical research.
