Arthur Grissom

Grissom, Arthur Reagan Arthur Reagan Grissom of Mabank, Texas departed this earth on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:08 PM. Reagan, as he was known by his family and friends, was born September 24, 1931 in Ferris, Texas to George Washington & LaVora Ellen Grissom. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Goldie. Reagan also leaves behind a sister, Emogene Whisenhunt of Mesquite, Texas, sister in law, Rosa Grissom of Little Elm, Texas, two daughters and their families, Karen and Ron Beecham of Crandall, Texas; Loretta and David Shaffer of Cooper, Texas, grandchildren, Dr. Chad & Danelle Burwell of Edmond, Oklahoma, Hayley Shaffer of Belton, Texas and Rami Shaffer of Winfield, Kansas. In addition, lie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Reagan was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Reagan was in distribution sales from 1951 to 1993 with S.II. Lynch & Company, where he made lifelong friendships that continued to his final day. Reagan was a walking, talking history book of the Dallas, Texas area. He often shared. his vast knowledge with others who were amazed at this wealth of information. Dallas should have tapped into this resource. He enjoyed traveling and researching genealogy; reading western novels; watching old western movies; and collecting everything from bell to cookie jars. In lieu of flowers. Reagan would be honored if donations are made in his memory to the Heartland Lab Rescue of Edmond, Oklahoma, the Henderson County Humane Society, or a charity of your choice. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff of At Home Healthcare of Canton and Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Their care and compassion shown to him was immeasurable. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 10:00 AM at the Delta Funeral Home in Cooper, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 at Camp Shed Cemetery of Mt. Joy, located in Delta County. Reagan will be buried at the feet of his father in law, Clarence "Dutch" Gillean.
