Denton, Fern Fern Denton, born July 22, 1913 in Clever, Missouri, passed away in peace on May 4, 2012, in Dallas, Texas. Her husband, Clyde J. Denton, and her sister, Reba Jane Rupf, preceded her in death. Continuing on in this life to hold her memories dear are her sister Peggy Simpkin, her daughters Jane Bayne and Martha Faesi, her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Fern graduated from Missouri State University and worked as a Home Economist for General Electric Corporation. In 1939, she married Clyde J. Denton and they began their life together, welcoming their two daughters into their hearts and household over the next eleven years. Clyde's work ultimately took the family to Texas, where they built a home in north Dallas; a home in which Fern lived until the day of her passing. Fern was an important part of the music community as an accomplished cellist and member of the Melodie Club and Music Study Club. She was also active in her neighborhood church and PEO, her women's philanthropic organization. She was known and loved for her social grace, love of children, and flawless cake recipes. Fern's family will receive friends at Restland Funeral Home on Monday, May 7, 2012, from 6-8 PM. A service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, located at 7700 Spring Valley Rd in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra through the Dallas Symphony Foundation Office of Endowment and Planned Giving at 2301 Flora Street, Dallas, TX 75201.
