Abbott, Seth Seth J. Abbott, Jr., longtime Plano resident, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2012. Born near Hanston, Kansas on 8/18/22, son of Seth Abbott, Sr. and Jessie Abbott. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia Abbott, the love of his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Philip. He is survived by son, Tim and wife Shelley, daughters Kelli Abbott, Marilyn Hunter and husband Harlan, and Jody Guest and husband Rick and by sister, Julia Chambers. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Seth fought in WW II as a sergeant in the 99th Infantry Division. He was wounded near Cologne, Germany where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. In 1946 he entered the Engineering School at Kansas State and later transferred to SMU where he graduated with honors and earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering. Seth began his professional career as an engineer with Atlantic Richfield in 1950. After retiring, he worked with a conservation consulting firm, drove a school bus for PISD, and spent several years mentoring students at Mendenhall Elementary. He was a founding member of Plano East Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School for many years. Most of all Seth Abbott loved the Lord and his family. He will be missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 7-9pm in Ted Dickey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2012 at 10am in the funeral home with Ken Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park.
