Mary Luna Obituary
Luna, Mary Dorcas Mary Dorcas Luna, born July 8, 1923 to Mary and Robert Huntley in Post, Texas passed from this life on July 27, 2012 at The Forum in Dallas. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and her husband, Earl Luna. Mary's parents moved their family to San Angelo, Texas soon after her birth to raise their seven children. It was there she met the love of her life, Earl Luna. Earl was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base during World War II. They married before he was commissioned overseas. After the war they moved to Austin where Earl attended the University of Texas Law School. Upon graduation Earl, Mary and their two children, Bob and Linda, moved to Garland where Earl began his law practice. They were actively involved in raising their family, ranching, traveling, and serving their community. Mary served as a volunteer for 33 years at the Garland Memorial Hospital, now Baylor Hospital of Garland, where her husband was one of the founders. She was also a member of the Kiwanians Club for many years. Gifted with an artistic talent, Mary loved to paint. She enjoyed sharing her talent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion for art was enjoyed by all who knew her. Mary's constant smile, kind demeanor, and sense of humor were her special attributes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her brother, Lloyd Huntley and wife, Juanita of San Angelo, son, Robert Earl Luna and wife Mary, daughter, Linda Groseclose and husband, Frank. Grandchildren are Stacy Smoot and husband Brannan Smoot, Stephanie Krejs and husband Oliver, Huntley Luna and wife Ele, and Eleanor Luna and husband Brenden Mulligan. Great grandchildren are Erica, John Brannan Jr., Elise Smoot and Josie and Kate Krejs, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank caregivers Felicia McCarthy, Maxi Belman, and Merry Roney for their constant love and care they have provided every day and Hospice Always Better Care. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Sparkman Hillcrest with Rev. Joe Rightmeyer of Highland Park Presbyterian Church officiating.
