John Hulse Obituary
Hulse, John Eddie John Eddie Hulse of Dallas, Texas died peacefully October 7, 2012 surrounded by friends and family. John was born on March 19, 1943 in Throckmorton, Texas to Jake and Estell Hulse. John Eddie graduated from Newcastle High School and Texas Christian University where he was an accomplished athlete and standout football player. He taught and coached for thirty years in the Nocona, Grapevine-Colleyille, Bonham, Irving, and Birdville Independent School Districts. John was active in his children's school, Lakehill Preparatory School, where he served as President of the Parent-Faculty Club as well as co-chairing the Athletic Committee. He was a frequent contributor to the Swiss Avenue Historic District and chaired the Swiss Avenue Mother's Day Home Tour. Besides his wife and children, John Eddie found his greatest joys in cooking for friends and family (and really whoever else wanted to stop by), making friends with every person he ever met, charming them with his captivating tall tales about growing up in small town Texas, and gardening in his backyard (or at least supervising it). He also loved to throw parties, and his annual rendition of the "Monster Mash" on Halloween was well-known in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife Martha Hulse; children John Douglas Hulse and Jenny Hulse; sister, Nedra Morgan and family; mother and father-in-law Lloyd and Auvarie Thompson; and brother-in-law Doug Thompson and family; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Estell Hulse, brothers Melvin, Bill, and Donnie Hulse, brother-in-law JY Morgan, and beloved friend Frank Casteel. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday from 6-8pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Dallas, Texas 75225. Funeral Service will be held at Greenland Hills United Methodist Church, 5835 Penrose Ave., Dallas, Texas 75206 Thursday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, Texas on Friday at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the , and most importantly honor him by enjoying life, doting on your family, and always saying "I love you." These were the things that he held dear and things of which this world needs more. Please visit www.sparkman-hillcrest.com to leave your condolences for the Hulse family.
