Brooking, Dr. Donald G.W. Donald G.W. Brooking, MD, of Dallas died January 28, 2013, at the Avante Rehabilitation Center in Irving, Texas. The son of Earl and Emile Brooking, he was born July 14, 1921, in Minneapolis, Minn. He earned his medical degree in 1948 from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and did post-doctoral study at Cornell University. From 1948 till 1954, Dr. Brook-ing served in the U.S. Army in Texas, Germany and Korea, achieving the rank of major at the time of his honorable discharge. He married Dr. Dorothy Finley in 1950 and moved to Dallas in 1954. At the time of his wife's death in 1999, the couple had been married 49 years. When not practicing medicine, the couple enjoyed ballroom dancing. Dr. Brooking also was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. A board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Brooking oper-ated a practice in Dallas from 1954 until his retirement in 2010. He maintained memberships in the American Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, Texas Dermatology Association, Dallas Dermatology Society and the Dallas County Medical Society. The family wishes to acknowledge the devotion of secretary and caregiver Faye O'Steen of Irving, who worked for Dr. Brooking for 55 years. In addition to his wife, Dr. Brooking was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Brooking, of Minneapolis. He is survived by his sister, Betty L. Brooking, of Minneapolis, and various nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Decatur, Alabama.
