Heifner, Olin Randall Dallas Police Department, Senior Corporal, Retired. Olin Randall "Randy" Heifner, born December 24, 1946, died March 3, 2013, after an 18+ year battle with cancer. Olin was born and raised in Dallas, Texas by his parents, Olin Arthur Heifner, a Sergeant in the Dallas Police Department, and Daisy Lucille Sigler, a business secretary. While attending Thomas Jefferson High School, he enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program. After obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, he enlisted in the United States Navy with the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade. He was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Lieutenant and awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Olin joined the Dallas Police Department in 1974 and served in numerous positions, from Patrol Officer to Detective, receiving awards denoting life saving, certificate of merit, safety and marksmanship. After 28+ years of service, he retired with the rank of Senior Corporal. Olin is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Mary Elizabeth; his daughter Saranne Corley Ricco and her husband, Rick Ricco, his sister, Barbara Jan Heifner and her husband, Bill Harris; nephew, Bob Eikenberry and his wife, Jamie and children, Ethan and Adam; nephew, Ted Eikenberry and mother-in-law, Dorothy Gene Edwards. He is also survived by his beloved pets, LeRoy, Roxie, Happy, Betty Boop, Pamela, Angel and Thomas. Olin also leaves behind his 2 cherished friends, Dennis Williams and his wife, Sue, whose love and friendship over the years and through the final days meant everything to him and Mary.Those of us who loved him and carry him in our hearts, wish him God Speed on this his final journey. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 3pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
