Baker, John Dale John Dale Baker, beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 15, 2013. He was born on October 31, 1921 to the late John Ellsworth and Metah Ingeborg (Johnson) Baker in Great Falls, Montana where he grew up. John enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and served his country in the Air Corp. He attended the University of Texas in Austin where he earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering, and he spent his early career with Shell Oil Company in southern Louisiana. After moving his young family to Dallas in 1959, he worked for the petroleum consulting firm Degolyer and McNaughton until his retirement in 1988. John was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for over 50 years where he served as a vestryman, an usher, chair of several ministries, and as a tireless volunteer. He was an active member in the North Dallas Golden K Kiwanis Club and spent many years in leadership positions. John was also a Freemason and was honored as a Master Mason for his 65 years of service in 2010. John was preceded in death by Beverly, his wife of 33 years. He is survived by Pat, his wife of 25 years. He is also survived by his son John and wife, Melanie; daughter Metah Boroughs and husband, Terry; step-daughters Mary Ellen Evans, Nancy Massey and husband, Mark; Leigh Walther and husband, Gregg; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. John had a strong Christian faith and loved being in the company of family and friends. We will miss his jovial nature and his loving, gentle, kind, and generous ways. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas 75230. Memorials may be made in John's memory to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
