Collier Jr., Burgess W. (Bud) Burgess W. (Bud) Collier, Jr., of Galveston, Texas passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 11, 1933 to Mrs. Katherine Hamilton Collier and Burgess W. Collier, Sr. in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School in El Paso in 1951 and served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon completion of his duties in the military in 1956, Mr. Collier entered Texas Western College in El Paso, where he graduated in 1959. He was in the commercial real estate business in Dallas for twenty-five years doing business as Collier Financial Services. Prior to that he was with Random House Publishers in New York and Dallas and later joined Field Educational Publications as Group Vice President and Director of Sales in Palo Alto, California. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Galveston, Galveston Country Club, the 1920 Pitch & Poker Club and the Pachyderm Club of Galveston. Mr. Collier was preceded in death by his son, Burgess W. Collier III, who was killed while serving in the US Military in Europe in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane Wootton Collier; grandson, Sean B. Collier of Tampa, FL; sister, Kay Rowling Long of Corpus Christi, TX; brother, Brian H. Collier of El Paso, TX; brother, Michael N. Collier and wife, Joyce, of Missouri City, TX; brother-in-law, Joe Henry Wootton and wife, Doris, of The Woodlands, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Collier's family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 22nd, at First Presbyterian Church, 19th and Church Street, in Galveston. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm, led by Rev. Bob Murphy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society, 6814 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77554, or a .
