Jeanne Allyn Marr Forte' Obituary
Forte', Jeanne Marr Jeanne at 18 Jeanne Forte', who survived polio as a teenager, a BB pellet to the thigh (from a six year old son, on accident), a shotgun pellet in the eye (on a family dove hunt, on accident), a significant stroke at age 75 and a broken hip at 89 passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, just days short of her 93rd birthday. She remained mentally alert to the end but the body just wore out of old age and finally gave out. Born June 28, 1920 in Bonham, Texas, daughter of Eugene Hendricks Marr and Sophronia Everett Marr of Bonham, Fort Worth and Denison, Jeanne was baptized in the First Christian Church in Bonham in 1922, and graduated from TCU in 1942. That same year she married Robert A. Forte' (1916-1965) of McKinney, Farmington, N.M. and Dallas, who was a standout five-sport letterman at McKinney High School and a college football and baseball star at TCU. He was a combat veteran (77 missions), serving in WWII and Korea as an Air Force fighter pilot. Jeanne was mother of Dianne Forte' Neely (1943-1994), Robin A. Forte' and wife Marty of Dallas and E.M. (Toby) Forte' and wife Cherryl of Mulberry, Arkansas; Grandmother of Dale and Dedra Neely, Holly and Brett Forte' and Lisa Marceaux; Great grandmother of Annabelle and Finnegan Dooley, Andrea Erikson and Brannon Jackson; Great-great-grandmother of Aiden Erikson; cousin of Robert Charles Joplin. She was a loyal and faithful military wife, civilian wife, business partner and mother. After spending most of their first 12 years moving from Air Base to Air Base and her spending considerable time at home during the combat tours, she and Robert, using all of their savings and other assets, moved to Farmington, N.M. in 1955 where they established Forte' Oil Company, Inc. a successful oil and gasoline distributorship that included trucking and real estate investments. Following Robert's death (in a crash of his private airplane) in 1965, Jeanne taught middle school for 17 years, first in Garland and then in Rockwall (where she lived since 1972). Jeanne retired from teaching in 1982. During her teaching and retired years she traveled extensively, mostly in Europe, usually with her family or teacher friends, and also enjoyed spending time with her family at home. She was active with the Rockwall Historical Society and wrote a column for years, and also played some friendly bridge. She was an avid reader up until her last days. Jeanne, exhibiting Christ-like devotion, gave an incredible amount of time (years and years) and energy to the care of her mother and her dad and her daughter Dianne, in their declining years. She was a great example to us all. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Rockwall.
