Chamberlain, Howard E. Howard Eugene Chamberlain passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the age of 89. He was born April 19, 1924 to Eula Wykes Chamberlain and D.C. Chamberlain, in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his son David Chamberlain, a partner with the law firm of Chamberlain McHaney in Austin, Texas. He is also survived by nephews, Steve and Michael Melton, Howard Perrone; nieces Ann Melton and Terri Perrone; great nephews; Steve Jr., Whitt and Wes Melton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly, and his sister, Beth Perrone. Howard was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater. While stationed on Tinian Island he served with the ground crew that loaded the atomic bombs which brought an end to World War II. He was honorably discharged after achieving the rank of Sergeant in 1946. Howard was also a devoted member of Tannehill No. 52 Masonic Lodge, and led the lodge as Worshipful Master in the early '70's. He was also a member of Scottish Rite and the Hella Shrine. He received the Golden Trowel Award in 2001, recognizing his lifelong service to the lodge. Howard worked his entire career with one employer, KDFW-TV Channel 4 in Dallas. Among his career highlights, he was an integral part of the television coverage of the John F. Kennedy assassination and the fatal shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald. Howard is also survived by many others who cherish his memory, among those are Arva Reyna, Pamela Plimpton, and Adam and Honorable Irma Ramirez. The family expresses its gratitude to Howard's healthcare givers in his final days. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Chapel East of the Hillcrest Mausoleum Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
