LaPrade, Jr., Robert J. (Bob) 92, born Dec. 13, 1920 in Graham, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Dallas, TX. He was the son of the late Robert J. LaPrade, Sr. and the late Mary Buford Snoddy LaPrade. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Clough LaPrade, and 2 daughters, Jean Graham of Dallas; and Carol Ireland of Wylie. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Spence Graham and wife, Katey of Houston; Rob Ireland and wife, Robin of Michigan; and Shaun Ireland of Wylie; and 4 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, James, Cori and Mickey, all of whom he loved and adored. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Louise Webster; brother, John and wife, Margaret Ann of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased in death by brother, Dr. William H. LaPrade and wife, Barbara of Dallas; and one son-in-law, Robert F. Ireland, Sr. of Wylie. Bob was born in Graham, Texas where he graduated from Graham High School. He attended Southern Methodist University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Economics in 1942. Bob was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Cycen Yeader and Blue Key. Bob went on to receive his MBA at Harvard University in 1947. During World War II, Bob served as a lieutenant in the Navy aboard the LST #31 which was part of the amphibious fleet in the Pacific and was involved in six invasions during his time on board. Also, the Japanese warplanes attacked them at Tarawa and there were 38 other air attacks at Okinawa. Bob's first career was the Navy. His next career was with Bostitch-Textron where he was employed for 27 years as a territory salesman. His third career was with Dawn Care Services, where he was a caregiver for the sick and elderly for 10 years. Bob's final career was at Blalock Middle School in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch school district where he worked with special education students. He was known as 'Mr. Bob' to all of his students who dearly loved him. Bob and his wife, Margaret were both members of Highland Park United Methodist Church where they helped organize the 2x2 couples Sunday School class in 1950. As charter members they have remained active. Although Bob worked tirelessly in all his careers and church, he was first and foremost a family man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express many thanks and appreciation to the Hospice Select staff, for their exceptional support and care for our beloved Bob. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Interment will be at 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Restland Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in the main Sanctuary of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Mockingbird and Hillcrest, Dallas TX. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the 2x2 Class benevolence fund of Highland Park United Methodist Church or the .
