Mary Ann Crisp Gilmore

Gilmore, Mary Ann Crisp 1944 - 2013 Born January 12, 1944 to Huey Wood and Jessie Faye Crisp in Henderson, Texas passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 from a massive stroke. Mary graduated from Gaston High School in Joinerville, Texas in 1962. She attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas where she graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in 1964. Mary moved to Dallas in September, 1964. She married Alan James Winters in 1965, they were divorced in 1966. Daughter, Nikki, was born in 1966. Mary married Everett Millard Gilmore, Jr. in 1977. Mary was employed by the Lone Star Gas Company in 1966, the Jewish Family Service from 1967 to 1970, and the Canadian Consulate from 1970 to 1980. She was Co-Founder and Director of CHOICE, a reproductive rights activist group from 1981 to 1992. Mary was also active in local politics. She was a founding officer of the Dallas Area Women's Political Caucus during the 1980's as well as volunteering for several carefully selected Democratic candidates' campaigns. Mary was an active member of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas where she taught Sunday School, was on the Adult Education Committee, a founding member of Social Women's Clearinghouse and an officer of Women's Evening Alliance. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ev, in 2005 and her brother, Gary Ray Crisp in 2006. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nikki Lee and James Mundt, granddaughters Elizabeth Carol and Evelyn Louise of Lewisville, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Huey Dale and Sally Crisp of Little Rock, Arkansas, sister, Janie Faye Bradburry of Gladewater, Texas, nieces Mitchell Crisp Patterson, Molly Hart Crisp Lindemann, and Denise Jefferson, and nephews Anthony Bradburry and Jason Crisp, and her beloved cats, Fancy and Patty. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 3:30 pm at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas located at 4015 Normandy Avenue, Dallas, Texas.
