Evans, Michael George Michael was born on June 9, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to George and Anna Skopel Evdokiou and passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on November 4, 2013. From humble beginnings to successful business and community leader, Mike treated everyone he met with warmth, respect and a wicked sense of humor. He lived a full rich life and was ready to join those he loved who passed before him. Michael's years in Gary gave him the drive to succeed in all he attempted. After high school, he served in the Army and in 1951 graduated from Indiana University. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and remained active throughout his life. After college, he spent three years with the American Consulate in Geneva, Switzerland and moved to Texas where he married Beverly Channing. He moved to Dallas in 1953 where daughter, Becky and son, Michael were born. Mike entered the insurance industry with Massachusetts Mutual and started their group benefits division. He was so successful that he formed his own agency that thrives today as George Belcher Evans & Wilmer. He was a gifted artist, a lover of classical music and an avid proponent of physical fitness. He was one of the original members of the Cooper Aerobics Center and worked out daily until recently when his health declined. He was active in many social and civic organizations, including the Dallas Civic Opera, The Dallas Symphony Association, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas 200, Who's Who and was elected to the Richardson City Council. After years of being single and traveling the world, he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Libbie) Wilmer and they were blessed with a loving combined family. He is survived by his brother, George Evans; wife, Libbie; son, Michael Evdokiou (Kim); daughter, Becky Hancock (David); stepsons, Clayton Wilmer (Tiffany), Bryan Wilmer (Meghan); granddaughters, Rachel Hancock, Monique Evdokiou, Catherine Wilmer and grandsons, Mason Wilmer and Andrew Wilmer. Michael Evans leaves an indelible legacy in his family, his community and his company. He was a quiet Christian in the way that he shared unconditional love with everyone he met. Mike's success enabled him to travel the world and rub elbows with dignitaries. He treated none of those with more love than he did the least among us. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00pm. A memorial service to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in Restland's Memorial Chapel at 3:00pm.
