George, Dorothy Pearce 87, passed away on Monday, November 18th in Rockwall, TX. Born on February 28, 1926 to Ben and Carolina Lessmann, Dorothy was raised on a farm outside of Marlin, TX. The oldest of 8 children, she worked on the farm and helped with her younger siblings. After leaving the farm and living in various locations, she settled in Pleasant Grove working as a waitress for many years while supporting her son through school and sports. She later moved to Houston where she lived independently for many years working at a local bank before remarrying and moving to Franklin, TX. In Franklin, she farmed and volunteered extensively at her church, New Baden Baptist. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, spending long weekends and vacations with her family, attending many school and sports activities, and creating many wonderful memories with her friends and family. Dorothy enjoyed cooking for others, gardening, and reading. Known by most as "Mema", Dorothy had a spunky personality, a sweet spirit and could always bring about laughter to those she met. She will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence George in 2001 and her daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Pearce in 2007. Dorothy is survived by her son Kenneth Pearce and his wife Jill Pearce of Rockwall; her sister Evelyn Feldman of College Station; brothers & sister-in-law William and Virginia Lessmann of The Woodlands, Roy Lee Lessmann of Riesel, Wayne Lessmann of Brenham. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Ken Pearce and his wife, Lisa; Angela Waters and husband, David; along with four great grandchildren Nathan & Ashley Pearce; and Caitlyn & Kylie Waters. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Franklin, TX). Rev. Freddy Burden will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 6-8 PM at McCauley Funeral home in Franklin, Texas.
