ALEXANDER, JOSEPH EDWIN, 53, a stratgic computer consultant, passed away, Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at his home. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Christ The King Episcopal Church, 3290 Lackland Road, Fort Worth. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: Joseph was committed to helping others and the family requests that donations be made in memory of Joseph to his favorite charities. St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, Shriner's Children's Hospital of Dallas and your local ASPCA. Joseph was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Fort Worth. He lived most of his active life in Fort Worth. He graduated from Castleberry High School in 1968, where he played trombone in the marching band. He attended Texas Christian University. Joseph graduated from Tarrant County College in 1992. He and his family moved to Plano in 1995. He was a man of science and of faith. Joseph had a gift with animals and with children. He patiently learned customs and languages of people and animals. He enjoyed reading and was proud that he had written books with his son, Geoffrey Alexander. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in July of next year and was excited that the family would be having Christmas in Alabama this year with his eldest son. Joseph was happiest with his family. He was a son, husband and best friend. He and his wife were preparing a new remote control airplane for its first flight when Joseph died suddenly. Joseph returned to school full time two years ago and was to graduate Summa Cum Laude from UTD at the next graduation ceremony. He was a mentor and example for many classmates at UTD and will be missed. Joseph was an active member of IEEE Computer Society, ARRL, SARA and was an Officer and lifetime member of International Golden Key Honour Society as well as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda. Joseph was a Master Mason and an endowed member at Tarrant Lodge #942. Survivors: Wife, Rhonda Alexander of Plano; children, Joseph Edwin "Jay" Alexander III and wife, Kristen, Mischele Alexander McEntire and husband, Clint and Geoffrey Davis Alexander and wife, Amanda; mother, Dorothy "Dee" Alexander; father, Joseph Edwin Alexander Sr.; surrogate father, Richard Smith; soon to be, first grandchild, baby Mac; four-legged companions, Barney and Tasha; and numerous extended family and friends.
