Harold Rusk Obituary

Rusk, Harold Keith Born June 27, 1928 to Willard and Josephine Rusk in Nowata, Oklahoma and died April 7, 2014. Harold Keith Rusk was a Christian, family man, salesman, Barbershop Quartet Tenor and volunteer for many projects both local and national. Harold attended Oklahoma City University, married Martha J. Clayton and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1950. Harold started his career with Texaco and left them to join Ogilvie Tunnel Paper Company. They later merged with Monarch Paper where he had a long successful career in Printing and Paper Sales/Manufacturing. His hobbies included fishing, painting, playing bridge, traveling with his wife Martha and singing with SPEBSQUA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartets). Harold was a charter member of both Casa View Christian Church and Monica Park Christian Church. He moved to Garland, Texas in 1968 and was an Elder at First Christian Church serving as a Board member and is also recognized as Elder Emeritus. Harold served his community as Board Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board for ten years. He was instrumental in growing the Dallas Eye Bank which later became the National Lions Eye Bank. Harold and his wife Martha were long time supporters of the Dallas Symphony Association. Harold and Martha's travels included Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain, Japan, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mexico and Canada. They also traveled to every state in the US to include Alaska and Hawaii. His favorite trip was with his wife Martha every fall to Durango, Colorado to view the change of color in the Aspen trees. Harold is survived by his son, Keith Rusk and wife, Dana Rusk; daughter, Kathy McCormick and husband, Dr. John McCormick; three grandchildren, Taylor Fields and husband, Jeff Fields, Shane Rusk and Nash Rusk; and great-granddaughter, Mabel Fields. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday April 12, 2014 at First Christian Church, 115 South Glenbrook, Garland Texas 75041, with Rev. Dan Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to First Christian Church 115 South Glenbrook Drive, Garland, Texas 75040.

What a great guy, he was so good to our grandmother at the classic and they were good friends. We enjoyed his company and talents while visiting. We are so sorry for your loss.
