DAVIS, WILLIAM H. "BILL", Heaven just got a little more help organizing and fixing-up as God welcomed Bill Davis to His Kingdom. Bill finally succumbed to complications from lung cancer on Monday, June 19, after a courageous two-year battle. Bill was born on January 22, 1934, in Gainesville, TX, to W.H. and Blanche (Clay) Davis. After graduation from Gainesville H.S. he married the love of his life, Opal Williams, in 1955 and eventually settled in Mesquite, TX, in 1961. He worked for The Timken Company for 31-years as he and Opal raised their three boys. They moved to Aubrey, TX, in 1987 and finally to Denton in 1994. Bill retired from Timken in 1992 and worked part-time for Texas Womans University until his illness prevented him from doing so. He was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, Dallas, for many years. He was preceded in death by his father W.H. Davis and step-father and mother John and Blanche Weiss. He is survived by his devoted wife Opal Davis of Denton, son and daughter-in-law Rick and Adi Davis of Mesquite, son Terry Davis of Plano and son and daughter-in-law Bret and Lisa Davis of Mesquite. Bill had a special soft place in his heart for his grandchildren, Jennifer, Nick, Valerie, Melissa, Matt, Tyler and Carly. They always found love and comfort in the arms of their Paw Paw, no matter what. He was also survived by sister and brother-in-law Anne and Leon Frith of Garland, brother and sister-in-law Don and Mary Davis of Gainesville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Pat Williams of Dallas, his Aunt Elizabeth Lamb and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was humble and selfless and always looked to better any situation he was involved with, be it at home, in the lives of his kids, at work, or any volunteer work he performed. He was a giver in the biggest way and will be sorely missed by many people. The family will hold a private graveside service in Gainesville on Wednesday, June 21, with a memorial service following at 4:00 PM in the chapel at DeBerry Funeral Directors located at 2025 W. University, Denton, TX. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bills favorite charities, Denton Community Food Center (POB 2121, Denton, TX 76202) or Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (5641 Medical Center Drive, Dallas, TX 75235). We love you so much Pop. See you soon!
