I was shocked and saddened to hear of Charlies loss. I knew him from the WISP ski patrol. While he was retiring about the time I began my volunteer service with the patrol Charlie was a ski enthusiast. You could feel the warmth of his smile and the light in his eyes. He loved life and it will be a significant loss.

I knew Charlie as a ski patroller at Wisp. Always a smile, cool and calm at work, but he loved his flying the most. Keep your eye out for me up there, Charlie. I'll do a few turns for you when the snow falls. Thanks for being a friend.

Charlie was my 1st cousin once removed, and although I never got the chance to meet him, I know he was a wonderful man who was greatly loved by his family. We are sad that his life was so tragically cut short, but we find solace in knowing that he died doing what he loved. RIP Charlie.

Charlie was a great guy. We always enjoyed being with him at IAC contests. He almost always wore a smile and a positive outlook on life. When I was fighting cancer, he made an effort to reach out to me and offer support. Charlie will definitely be missed. Our sympathies to his family.

I didn't know Charlie "all that well." But he has been an acquaintance since 2001 and was one of the friendliest people that I have ever known. It hurts to lose even the friends that you don't know "all that well." My condolences to Charlie and his family and friends.

Charlie and I spent many happy days at Warrenton Soaring Center. We learned to fly gliders there, worked as line crew and later as instructors and owned an LS-1f together. He is one of the most positive and upbeat people I have ever met. I know his loss will be felt by all who knew him. Godspeed Charlie

I remember Charlie from back in the Warrenton Soaring Center days, where he was always thoughtful and pleasant. Now that he (and Jane) are in our Lords company, there's no doubt that they've already received their wings and been checked out for some heavenly acrobatics. Be at peace.

Charlie was a terrific mentor and example of what an Engineer should be. Rarely did you ever see him get mad as he was always cool as a cucumber. He was a great friend; always willing to listen and contributed great advice to any personal questions, situations, or mechanical problems. Charlie will be missed by all whose lives he touched. I'm sure he is looking down on us with that big contagious smile, without regret, as he lived life to the fullest.
My deepest sympathies to his family.

A great loss of a person with a heart as big as outdoors, with the sense of humor and incite that made Charlie one of a kind. I think of Charlie everyday and am sorry about his passing well before his time. He was an adventurer with the spirit that he lived and effected everyone he knew by his presents. Reconnecting with Charlie after 30 years from the old Flying Circus hot air balloon days, even though we were a nuisance to him makes the loss even harder to accept. Bless his family and peace be with you.

Charlie's and my path crossed on October 7, 2007 when our plane, “004”, went down at the Flying Circus in Bealeton, VA. I am VERY saddened about his unfortunate and untimely death. He was a very nice person and it was obvious to me how much he loved to fly. I'm grateful to have photos of Charlie and the experience we shared in 2007, and we will be forever connected. He and his family are, and will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Soar high Charlie; Rest in Peace!
