News Death Notice

TAYLOR, James M. Age 84 of Kettering and longtime resident of Oakwood, passed away on October 1, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran village in Centerville, OH. He was born in Springboro, OH July 4, 1928. He graduated from Landon High School, Jacksonville, FL and attended classes at Wright State University Jim worked for many years for his father-in-law Robert W. Frey wholesale foods and retired from Dayton Power& Light O.H. Hutchings Station in Miamisburg, OH. He served with the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1948-58. He was past president of the Kettering Optimist Club and was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Jim was a devoted husband, loving father and loyal friend. Jim leaves a legacy that will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, son David M. (Marilyn) of Columbia MD, Robert (Edie) of Oakwood, Cathy (Ed) Breen of Kettering, grandchildren Devin and Megan Taylor, Robby (Julia)) and Alina Taylor, Jamie and Robert Breen and Great-Grandhcild Ryleigh Taylor. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 at Woodland Cemetery & Crematorium with a celebration of his life afterward. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bethany Lutheran Village 6445 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, OH 45459 and Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers from Bethany and Hospice for their loving and attentive care, especially Hospice nurses Karen and Michael. Arrangements made by Bradford, Connelly and Glickler.

Jim was such a living example of kindness, love, and generosity his whole life. I only knew him for the last 36 years, and wish I had been around him more. He and his brother, Gene, my father-in-law, were such wonderful examples for every person!

My Uncle-He was one of the most kindest, caring, thoughtful man one could ever have received as an uncle, only his brother Gene was the same. Two great men, two great uncles. He has now joined him. I will always remember his dedication to his family, friends and the Reds.
