MILLER Jr., Christian
Memoriam Christian F. Miller, Jr. April 25, 1956 - April 11, 2014 Chris was an airplane mechanic, talented musician, avid outdoorsman, a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, and friend. Spring was Chris's favorite time of year. He enjoyed spending days and weeks planning out every little detail of upcoming camping trips with his sons and stepsons. His enthusiasm was contagious! At the first mention of the trip, he'd rush to the basement to dig out dusty atlases and crinkled park maps from the 1970s. He'd manage the weight of his ruck, adjust center of gravity, and stuff the gear we'd need into a bucket. "It's not really camping," he'd say, "unless it's primitive camping." Which often meant a long hilly hike and a stream-crossing or two. His preparations were meticulous. He loved every moment of it, but he did it all for us. On more than one occasion, bad weather threatened to ruin his elaborate plans. But he would not waiver; the expedition would not be cancelled. So long as we were able to build and sustain a campfire, there was no reason to interrupt the fun. He'd tell jokes and we'd all laugh about the miserable, soggy situation in which we'd found ourselves. His rugged, adventurous qualities and lovable personality indelibly enriched the lives of all those he left behind. His sons and stepsons will carry his legacy, his stories and lessons, along steep trails and through slippery streams. One day, they will share them all with their own children around the campfire. Happy Birthday, Chris! We love and miss you. You are forever in our hearts.
