ABBOTT, Nancy L.* - Dayton  
News Death Notice ABBOTT, Nancy L. Age 77 of Kettering passed away Sunday March 1, 2015. She was born on April 13, 1937 in Dayton to the late Marjorie and Clyde Durst. Nancy graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955 and went on to Miami Valley School of Nursing where she graduated in 1958. She was a life long member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she served in many capacities, including treasurer for the Women of St. John's. She was an active member of the Dayton Philharmonic Women's Association, serving in countless roles as well as contributing to the publication of the 'Mud Pies & Silver Spoons' cookbook. She enjoyed being surrounded by the positive loving women of the Dayton chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; she served several years in various officer positions. She loved playing bridge and was an avid tennis player at the Kettering Tennis Center. Nancy's pure joy was walking on the beach and collecting sea shells. Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, David; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy (Sean) Strady of FL, Sandy (John) Kotch of CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Dottie (Tom) Norton of Kettering; five grandchildren, Lauren, Monica, Connor, Julia and Deanna. The interment will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 7 at the Whispering Pines Chapel at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. To honor Nancy's spirit a memorial service will be held on March 15th at 12:30 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 515 E. Third St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

News Death Notice ADAMS, Rose K. 85, of Kettering, passed away peacefully Friday February 27th, 2015 at her home. She was born May 16, 1929 in Dayton to Ruth E. (Swank) and Charles F. Karn. Rose was the office manager for Culver Marine for over 30 years, retiring from St. Francis of Assisi after several years serving the church as the secretary. She also formerly worked at Hallmark in Sugarcreek Plaza. Rose was the first female Secretary of the Miami Valley Marine Trade Association where she was instrumental in organizing the Dayton Boat Shows and HydroGlobe Races. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish where she was very active in the Martha Ministries, Bereavement Committee, Keenagers, bowling league and various other ministries and social committees. Rose was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, Beavercreek, and its bowling league, and the VFW Post #9927 Womens Auxillary. Rose was a strong, confident and caring person who was passionate about serving and supporting others. She loved crocheting, shopping, roses, collecting angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Sr., three brothers and one sister. Rose is survived by two sons Chuck (William) of New Richmond, Thomas Jr. (Kathy) of Bellbrook; three daughters Rose Ann Adkins of Kettering, Susie Furderer (Doug) of Rock Hill, SC; nine grandchildren Elizabeth, Jason, Kristen, Wyatt, Megan, James, Amber, and great grandchildren. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday March 4th at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook. To honor Rose's spirit of serving others, you are invited to bring one of her favorite snacks (Esther Price, Milky Ways, Little Debbie snacks, mini Oreos, cashews, Colby cheese w/Club crackers, Pepsi) to share with family and friends. St. Francis will lead a vigil service at 7:30 pm. Morning Prayers at CONNER & KOCH will be Thursday at 9:30 am prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville. Burial to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. In memory of Rose, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
