News Death Notice ACRES (Hilterbran), Susan Ann Age 40 of Georgetown, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. She was born February 11, 1974 in Dayton, daughter of Ralph O. & Sandra Sue (Ward) Hilterbran. Susan earned both her Bachelor and Master's Degrees from the University of Tennessee and had worked as a 5th Grade Teacher at Lakota. Susan is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jim Acres; 2 sons, Logan James, age 10 and Peyton Charles, age 7, both at home; her parents, Ralph & Sandy Hilterbran of Butler Twp.; 1 sister, Gail Sanning of TN; 1 brother, Darren & wife, Ruby Hilterbran of Tipp City; 2 half-brothers, Rick & Jeff Hilterbran; 1 half-sister, Kathy Conoway; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James & Judy Acres; sister-in-law, Bridgett Acres along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 24 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening (TODAY) from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, c/o American Cancer Society.

ALBRECT, Peggy Joan (Altenburg)* - Dayton  
News Death Notice ALBRECHT (nee Altenburg), Peggy Joan Of Lisle, IL, formerly Oakwood, Ohio, died January 16, 2015, age 86. Born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, July 21, 1928 to Claude Ephraim Altenburg and Mary Marguerite Altenburg, (nee Jones), Peggy was raised in Dayton, Ohio and began music lessons at an early age. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she studied with Madame Giannini-Gregory. In 1951 she married baritone and Dayton area physician, Dr. Joseph Albrecht, and the singing duo enjoyed performing concerts together for many years. In 1953 Peggy was the winner of the Cincinnati Opera competition and performed with the company the following season. She was a frequent soloist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dayton Bach Society, the Dayton Music Club, and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was honored in 1977 when the Joseph Albrecht family was named the "Ohio Musical Family of the Year" by the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs. Peggy enjoyed teaching her many voice students over the years and was a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Mu Phi Epsilon. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Gretchen Canfield, her sons-in-law, Dwight Canfield and Randall Easterbrook, her six grand-children, Marguerite Easterbrook, George Easterbrook, Hope Easterbrook, Jared Canfield, Miriam Canfield, and Grace Canfield, sister Alyce Lane, and dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, her beloved daughter, Heidi Easterbrook, dear sisters Carmie Peth, Harriet Lehman, Betty Gustin, brother Claude Altenburg, and her infant grand-daughter, Mariel Frances Easterbrook. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church 125 N. Wilkinson St. Dayton, Ohio 45402. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peggy's name. News Death Notice ANDERSON, Paul R. Age 74 of Miami Twp., passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was born March 28, 1940 in Dayton, the son of the late Sterling & Lillian (Covington) Anderson. Paul was retired from Moore Paper Box with 27 years of service, Dayton Press with 20 years of service and worked for Daytep the last 2 years. A member of Masonic Lodge #295 F & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, a Kentucky Colonel, O.K.I. Bluegrass Association, Lostcreek Band, and attended First Baptist Church of Miamisburg. Preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, and a nephew George Dean Deaton. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Mina (Lutes) Anderson, 2 sons Mike Anderson (Terri) of West Alexandria, Chris Miller (Kim) of KY, 2 daughters Paula Rodeffer (Chelsea) of Lewisburg, Sandra Perkins (Dennis) of Germantown, his sister Lorna Lee (Wally) of West Carrollton, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other family and many bluegrass friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton, with Pastor Todd Smith officiating. News Death Notice ARNETT (Price), Doris Audrey Age 85, of New Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was born June 5, 1929 in Dayton to the late Herbert and Ocey Melton. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Garland "Bo" Arnett. She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Terry) Blevins; granddaughter, Laura (Derek) Roeth; great granddaughters, Audrey and Violet; and other close family and friends. Doris was an art teacher for Dixie Schools and retired after 30 years, was a member of the New Lebanon United Methodist Church, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29 from 5PM to 8PM at ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, New Lebanon, and from 10AM to 11AM at the funeral home on Friday, January 30. The Funeral Service will begin at 11AM with Rev. Gary Eubank officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
