LACOUTURE, Paul M.* - Dayton  
News Death Notice LACOUTURE, Paul M. Died on June 17, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton after a long illness. He was born in Dayton on June 18, 1949, the son of the late Paul E. Lacouture and Jeannette Kittredge Lacouture. He grew up in Oakwood and attended the Oakwood schools. He graduated from The Salisbury School in Salisbury, CT in 1968. He attended Lake Forest College, where he started on both offense and defense on the varsity football team, and Wright State University, before graduating from the University of Dayton in 1977. He graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law, cum laude, in 1980. After law school he served in a number of judicial clerkships including clerkships with Judge William Wolff of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, Justice Robert Holmes of the Ohio Supreme Court, and The Honorable Walter H. Rice of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. After the clerkships, he practiced law with several law firms in Dayton before returning as a career law clerk to Judge Rice in 1990. He retired from this position in 2012. Paul had an encyclopedic knowledge of history, politics, current events, and sports. For a number of years he parlayed this knowledge into success (including several network championships) at the weekly Trivia Night at BW3 on Brown Street in Dayton. He enjoyed sailing, sports, reading, and his extended family. He was a civil war buff, an avid environmentalist, and a rabid Reds fan. Paul demonstrated a love of and devotion to the law throughout his career and was well-respected for his legal scholarship. He was a member of the Buz Fuz Club in Dayton and a long-time board member and president of Building Bridges, also in Dayton. Paul is survived by his siblings, Peter (Marnie) of Exeter, RI, Linda Vliet (Walter) of Denver, CO, Helen (Kevin Newmark) of Brookline, MA, Anne Penniman (George) of Essex, CT, and his Swedish brother Anders Ekernas (Mariann) of Cos Cob, CT. He also leaves behind ten nieces and nephews, an aunt, two uncles and many cousins. He had a large circle of loyal, loving, lifetime friends who will miss him greatly. Paul's family appreciates the care and support provided to him for many years by Dr. Siva Ambalavanan. A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held in the Fall at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood. News Death Notice LACY, Michael A. Age 61, of Dayton, departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2016. He was born February 11, 1955 to Clyde A and Oda Henderson Lacy in Dayton Ohio. Michael graduated from Roth High school 1973 and served in the US Armed services. Michael worked at Dayton Correctional Institution until his retirement in 2013. He is preceded in death by his father, and sister, Rita Lowe. Survivors include: mother, Oda Fleming; son, Marcus Bush; brother, Gerald (Sheree) Lacy; nieces, Sonja (James) Brown, Neosha Herron, Chauntina Lacy and Breyana Lacy; nephew, Rian Lowe and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., FRIDAY, June 24, 2016 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. News Death Notice LAMB, Virginia S. Age 98 of Dayton, went home peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was born December 31, 1917 in Dayton, OH. The Lord, in his infinite and everlasting wisdom, called her home. "Well done my Faithful Servant"; come on home for now, you are ready to be offered to the Lord. She was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church, where she sang in the Gospel Choir and served on the missionary board. She later became a member of Believers Christian Fellowship Church, where she continued her missionary work. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Abby Saunders; husband, James E. Lamb; sisters, Anna Wallace, Ethel Sebree & Alice Keys and a brother, Harrison Saunders Jr. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her devoted daughters, Judith L. Colston and Joan K. (Joe) Granville; loving and devoted son, James E. Lamb Jr.; (11) grandchildren, (12) great grandchildren; (4) great, great grandchildren, and a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., WEDNESDAY, June 22, 2016 at HARVEST GROVE MBC, 3323 Highview Hills Rd. Reverend Robert Jackson, Pastor, with Reverend Dr. William E. Harris Jr. officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday; the family will receive friends 10:00 a.m., until time of service. Interment: West Memory Gardens. News Death Notice LAVIN, Richard William Age 90 of Centerville, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016. He was born in Long Beach, CA to the late William and Anne Lavin. Richard retired from NCR after 35 years as a patent attorney. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and NCR Country Club. Richard and his wife, June were avid travelers, visiting countries all over the world.Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Sr. Marie Lavin.Richard is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, June Lavin; beloved children, Teresa "Terri" (Joe) Hiett and William "Bill" (Rhonda) Lavin; and cherished grandchildren, Chris, Jon, Zac, Maddie, Kaitlyn, and Delainey; and many other loving relatives and friends.A visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5pm-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:30am at Incarnation Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
