A Captain in the US Army Air Force's 8th Airborne, he was stationed in Colorado and then in Bungay, England for the duration of WWII. He was born October 8, 1916 in Dayton, Ohio, attended Steele High School, undergraduate school at the University of Dayton and dental school at Northwestern University. Having had a long distance romance during the War with Matina Carvelas of Youngstown, Ohio, he married her in 1945 upon his return from England. While in Pinehurst Tom and Matina developed a corps of loving friends and became steadfast members of the community. After 64 years of marriage Tom suffered the loss of his loving wife, Matina, who passed away exactly 20 years to the day after the untimely death in 1989 of their eldest son, Jim. With them he is reunited. He was a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Dayton, OH as well as Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Fayetteville, NC.
