ZARTMAN, Marilee Pierce* - Dayton  
News Death Notice ZARTMAN, Marilee Pierce 81, of Dayton, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 20, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband Ed, she is survived by two daughters, Susan and Robin (Ray); and one granddaughter, Staci, who was the apple of her grandma's eye. In the early 1970s, she operated "Marilee Nursery School" in North Dayton. As a retired Dayton Public School teacher, she touched and influenced many lives. Always a good conversationalist with a witty sense of humor, she was a friend and a blessing to all who knew her. The family gives its sincere thanks to the staff at The Wellington at Dayton and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care.

ZERKEL, Joe L.* - St. Paris  
News Death Notice ZERKEL, Joe L. Age 73 of St. Paris, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur B. and Edna F. (Martin) Zerkel, brother-in-law Larry A. Shank, sister-in-law Janet Reimer, niece Toni Kay VanKirk. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Rose Ann (Shank) Zerkel, son and daughter-in-law Brian M. and Lynanne M. Zerkel, daughter Linda G. Zerkel, brother-in-law Gary L. Shank, cousin Veronica Gardener and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Christiansburg Jackson High School class of 1960 and Hobart Welding School. Joe retired from Chrysler Air-Temp in 1996. He enjoyed living on his family farm. He was a hunter, former taxidermist, wood carver, gardner and mushroom hunter. He enjoyed the woods on his farm. He was a wonderful, husband, father and friend who was always happy to lend a hand to others. He leaves behind many close coffee partners (Loretta's, Castle's and Studebaker's), special friends, neighbors and school mates. Funeral services will be held 3 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the St. Paris United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 PM until time of services on Wednesday, May 27. Memorial contributions may be made to Christiansburg Fire Department, St. Paris Fire Department or Community Mercy Hospice. Condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com .
