News Death Notice

MONIE, Annie Pearl Hampton age 79, of Dayton, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born September 3, 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Eugene and Alice Hampton. A resident of Dayton since 1964 where she was employed at DESC as a security guard and later, became a police officer for the City of Dayton Police Dept. Ann was a retired educator in the Dayton Public Schools with 30 years of service. She received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Central State University and a Master's of Science in Education from Wright State University. She served on the Usher Board at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Delta Sigma Theta. Preceded in death by her siblings, Viola Houghton, James, Joseph, Lenion and Henry L. Hampton, & Sarah McCain. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Saundra Morgan (Mike), Samuel, Cheryl and Melvin Moultry, & Coutanya Coombs (Kris, Sr.); brother, Gus (Savannah) Hampton; 11 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation from 4 to 8 pm Friday, November 22, 2013 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm. Celebration of life will be held 12 noon Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church, 301 Mia Ave. Rev. Herman Walker officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
