News Death Notice

TURNER, Ashford age 71 of Springfield, passed away Saturday October 6, 2012. He was born December 15, 1940 in Little, KY, the son of the late James and Mima (White) Turner. Ashford was employed as a shift supervisor with Cargill, retiring in 2000. He was an enthusiastic coach of Fairborn youth baseball and an avid fan of his granddaughter's basketball teams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Laura Turner; two brothers, Corbin Turner and wife Clara, Arnold Turner; four sisters, Eliza Burton, Mae Noble, Lottie Pinks, Grace Turner; and a brother-in-law, Enoch Watts. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a son, Bert Turner and wife Suzie; a daughter, Deborah Sparks and husband Rick; two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Turner, Allison Olivia Turner; two brothers, Charles Turner and wife Martha, James Turner, Jr. and wife Deloris; three sisters, Beatrice Watts, Suzie Hager, Edna Thomas and husband Kenneth; a brother-in-law, John Burton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends on Monday October 8, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Fairborn First Church of God Tabernacle, 1635 Montgomery Ave., Fairborn. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday and funeral service on Thursday at the Breathitt Funeral Home in Jackson, Kentucky with burial in the Turner Family Cemetery.
