KEMP, Barrett G. 82, of 08304 Kruse Road, Wapakoneta, Ohio, died at noon on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born February 22, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Barrett M. and Gladys (Linkhart) Kemp. He first married Patricia Picard and she preceded him in death; he then married Shirley Glass McEvoy and she preceded him in death. He is survived by his two children: Becky (Ed) Harruff of New Bremen, Ohio; Barrett G. "Buz" Kemp II of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He is survived by two grandchildren: Lydia Ray and Bart Kemp; by three great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Janet Wills of Dayton; a brother, Merle "Skip" Kemp of Danville, California. He is also survived by two step-daughters: Jayne Fahncke of Miamisburg, Ohio; Lori Morris of Saint Marys. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Barry Mancz of Kettering, Ohio. He was preceded in death by is parents; by his two wives; by a sister, Shirley Mancz. Mr. Kemp graduated from Oakwood High School in 1950. He graduated from Ohio University in 1954 and graduated from the Ohio Northern University College of Law in 1959. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Army
, having served as an military intelligence agent at the 5th Army Headquarters from 1954-59. He then served as an FBI agent from 1959-61. He has practiced law in Saint Marys, Ohio, since 1961.He was the former Law Director for the City of Saint Marys. He was a member of the Saint Marys Community Improvement Corporation and was a founding member of the Saint Marys Sister Cities, Inc. He was a member and past President of the Saint Marys Rotary Club
and the Saint Marys Outing Club (Idlewild). He was an active member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, where he had served as the treasurer of the Endowment Fund; was a trustee and deacon of the church, and an adult Sunday School teacher. Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, the Reverend Dr. Ed Bray, officiant. Military committal rites will be offered by American Legion Post 323 and VFW
Post 9289 at the church on Tuesday. Private family burial rites will he held at a later date. Friends may call from 9:30 until the time of services on Tuesday at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, where memorial gifts may be given to the Parkinson's Foundation.
