News Death Notice

HARE, Jr., Bennie Richard Of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Columbia, S. C. on January 12, 1937 to the union of the late Bennie Hare Sr. and Geniva Hare. Bennie was a graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1955, Columbia, S.C. He later joined the military and served in the U. S. Air Force for eight years. He was retired from General Motors/Delco Products, after 30 plus years of service. He was socially affiliated with the Masons. Bennie united with the Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John F. Cunningham, where he served diligently on the Mobile Ministry, the Kitchen Ministry and in any other position in which he was asked to serve until his health declined. He is also preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Jr. Bennie leaves to forever cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Vernell Hare; (3) daughters, Sherrie Cates, Kim (Willard) Browner, and Carolyn (Stanley) Mallard; (2) brothers, Willie and Clarence (Jessie Ann) Hare of Columbia, S. C.; (2) sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Tyrone) Milton and Geraldine Flagg of Middletown, OH; (6) granddaughters; (3) great- grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends, too numerous to mention, including the Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church Family. Funeral service 11:00 A.M., MONDAY, December 9, 2013 at MT. ENON MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1501 W. Third St., with Pastor Cory Pruitt, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Dayton National Cemetery.
