News Death Notice

GAY, Bernard I. 90, of South Vienna, passed away Monday afternoon, March 25, 2013 in The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 10, 1923, the son of the late Walter F. and Sarah Pearl (Rubin) Gay. Bernie served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army in the European Theater with the first and third armies, under the command of General George S. Patton. For his service, he was awarded 5 Bronze Stars and the British Defense Medal. He retired in 1999 following over 60 years in the automotive field. Bernie was a member of F.O.E. Aerie 397 and the Miami Valley Auto Dealers Association. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy J. (Walters) Gay; three children, Candace Gay of South Vienna, Bernard Gay Jr. of Springfield, and Suzanne (Harold) Wheeler of Melbourne, Florida and two grandchildren, Bernard W. Gay III and Brandelyn Hultgren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Martin. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Bernie's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Garfield Parker officiating. Burial will be in Somerford Cemetery.
