News Death Notice

SEARS, Clara J. 88, of Springboro, passed away Saturday August 3, 2013 at her home. She was born January 11, 1925 in Carter County, Kentucky to Etta (Gee) and George Menix. She was a member of the Delco Moraine Campers Club, Dayton Mountain Dulcimer Society and the Historical Society of Springboro where she was in charge of Hospitality. Before retirement, Clara worked as a sales associate for Elder Beerman for over 30 years. Clara loved to bake and decorate cakes, which she always did for the entire family. She enjoyed Old Time Country Music, Moosetracks ice cream, blackberry cobbler, and homemade biscuits with strawberry jam. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ronald Crapyou, step-son Steve Sears, great-granddaughter Ronda Crapyou, sisters Lorene Alexander & Cleo Gentry, brothers Van, Oatis, Loadus, and Marvin Menix. Clara is survived by her husband of 43 years, Donald L. Sears, 3 sons Ron Crapyou (Mary) of Kettering, Tim Carroll (Robin) of Beavercreek, and Tom Carroll (Laurie) of Massachusetts, 1 daughter Sandy Katulak (Joe) of Centerville, 2 step-sons David Sears (Donna) of Dayton and Paul Sears of Eaton, 1 step-daughter Kim Unruh (Mike) of Camden, 9 grandchildren Angela & Andrea Crapyou, Adam & Joe Katulak, Kristy & Tim Carroll, Gray, Alexander and Solena Davidson-Carroll, 7 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren Skylynn, Jayden, Adalynne, Addison, and Blake, 1 brother Willie Menix (Kay) of Grayson, Kentucky and 1 sister Ruth Haney of Grayson, Kentucky. The family will receive friends Monday August 5 from 6-8 pm at Marshall Rd. Church of God, 4400 Marshall Rd, Kettering (45429). A celebration of Clara's life will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating.
