Clara Jane LONG


News Death Notice

LONG, Clara Jane age 98 of Xenia, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at her daughter's residence. She was born October 21, 1914 in Ellerton, Ohio to the late Jesse Carlton and Carrie Olive (Phillabaum) Linebaugh. In addition to her parents, Clara Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Russell Omer Long in October 2000; brothers, Clarence, Jess, Lawrence, John Carlton, Bill, Chuck and Darrell; sisters, Mary Jane, Mildred, Edith Mae and Fay and a great grandson, Samuel Woodman Long. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Russell (Linda) Long of South Whitley, IN and Nancy Jane (Youssef) Raffoul of Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren, Matthew Lawrence (Jessica) Long, Molly Kirsten (Chris) Long, Hannah Jane Raffoul, Paul Youssef Raffoul, Joseph Naim Raffoul and Daniel Russell Raffoul; great grandchildren, Isaac, Sophia, Luke and Kate; siblings, Iva Lindsey of Richmond, IN, Jim (Lillian) Linebaugh of Waynesville and Harry (Marianne) Linebaugh of Farmersville as well as numerous other extended family and friends. Clara Jane dedicated most of her life to her family as a homemaker becoming an extraordinary seamstress in the process. She was an active member of Ellerton United Church of Christ and participated in many of their activities. She had contributed to the WWII effort as a keypunch operator at Wright Field and will be fondly remembered by the meals she prepared and shared as well as the quilts constructed and given. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2013 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Services will begin 10:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2013 also at the funeral home and officiated by Chaplain Hal Ward. Burial will follow at Ellerton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Acclaim Hospice at 7887 Washington Village Dr., Dayton, OH 45449.
